Albany SOTYA Nomination

Ruairi Avern has been selected as one of the top 5 nominees for the Wellington and Reeves Albany Sportsperson of the Year Award for 2025.

Ruairi’s racing journey began at his home club, Albany City Kart Club, which remains one of his favourite tracks.  In 2025, he was the top-scoring rookie competing in the Radical Cup Australia for WA-based Arise Racing, placed fourth overall despite missing out on one round. And, on the strength of his success, he is currently competing in the 2026 Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge with the reigning championship holders, Melbourne-based team, Sonic Motor Racing.

On being nominated, Ruairi commented: “To be recognised alongside Albany's finest is humbling, and I'm grateful for the support of everyone that has been involved with my racing so far.”

The City and Shire of Albany is located in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia.
